I called a homesecuritycompanywhen I first moved in because I had no idea before how bad petty crime could be in the neighborhood. Within my first week here there had been two bikes stolen from kids, one house had been graffiti-ed and another had its windows smashed out! I am not a really paranoid person but I thought that was too many things to be a coincidence and I just didn’t want to take any chances with my first house. It’s a lot of responsibility to be a homeowner and I just didn’t realize how many things you have to think about that you don’t when you’re renting! Either way, it’s nice being able to put money back into something I own and not just to a landlord and I know that after time a lot of these big upfront expenses will go away. I’ve had a lot of support from my family and I can’t tell them how thankful I am for it…maybe I’ll have a housewarming party to thank them all!
